Shore based courses

ISA Yachtmaster Navigation Course (45 hrs)

To provide experienced participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely navigate a boat by day and night on coastal waters, with which you are familiar. It is intended as preparation for ISA Advanced Sailing Certificate (Sailing Dinghies and Keelboats) and/or ISA Advanced powerboats certificate (open powerboats)

ISA Coastal Navigation for small boats (1 day)

This course provides recreational powerboat users the skills needed to plan and use boats during day light hours, in waters in which they are familiar. It will include the typical skills necessary to enjoy family day trips, longer coastal passages and sports activities like water skiing. Participants must hold the ISA National Powerboat Cert (Level 2).

RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course (2 day)

This course is a perfect introduction or refresher for anyone going afloat as skipper or crew. The course covers basic navigation and safety afloat.

Cost:

  • €175

GPS (3 evenings or 1 day)

Courses for new comers to navigating at sea. Covering and making simple the technical jargon of the portable and boat mounted GPS sets. You are encouraged to bring your own set to compare and get to use way-point navigation and understand and use displays with POS, SMG, COG, GS, VTD, VTW, WAS, Range and MOB.

First Aid ( 1 day)

In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one-day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers.

Corporate day designed for total beginners

You will be taught to launch and recover a boat. Prepare the power boat and run safety checks. Following a cup of coffee and a final safety brief, start on basic Power Boat handling where you begin to drive around Courtmacsherry Bay under the expert eye of our friendly trained Powerboat Instructors. After the complimentary lunch back afloat for more driving practice. You will be taught: Close Quarter Handling - Leaving and coming alongside pontoons or moorings, towing, rescue and emergency drills and high speed driving techniques. At the end of the day, all students are presented with the Irish Sailing Association Certificate in Power Boating - Level I over a celebratory few jars. Where would you get it ? Food, drink and an action packed day out.

School and youth groups (1/2/3 Hr Sessions)

Groups catered for. Activities can include sailing, fun kayaking, land-yachting and power boating plus other activities, including sea fishing and laser rifles.
